Contact had belladonna alkaloids actually, which included atropine, a heart stimulant used in cardiac arrest (in higher concentrations), scopolamine, used as a truth serum in WWII (in higher concentrations), and hyoscyamine, a general calmative also used in pain relief (in higher concentrations).
The general intention was to act as an anticholinergic agent - a drying agent in such small quantities... perfect for a cold!

Atropine is also one of the immediate injections you give someone exposed to nerve agents. Was another that started with a ‘P” I seem to recall..
