You are missing the boat. Haven’t we learned how Trump operates yet? He is playing the media as usual! They will focus on this for days while he pivots and focuses on the real issues. This is all for the media. It’s a game he usually wins.
Some people play checkers or watch tv or hop on the Internet as a pastime. President Trump likes to play with the bad guys (and girls) out there like a cat plays with a toy mouse slapping it around before he gets bored with the game and moves on.
My first inclination was a President should be above this kind of thing but President Trump is no ordinary US President. He has his own unique style, like it or not, and he’s going to do things his way.
I was reminded of this quote:

In this case it’s a little different but the same idea.
And his next round of rallies will all be televised and filled beyond capacity!
