Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child in the spring, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced on Monday.
The royal couple touched down in Sydney, Australia on Monday and made the reveal just a few hours into their tour of the country.
Queen Elizabeth and other members of the royal family were told the news Friday at the wedding of Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle, according to reports.

That prof had been an actor/director ( came from an acting/manager family ) on Broadway and other regional theatres, before he became a prof. I had him for quite a few other classes as well as being in the Summer Stock troop he started and ran.
Fascinating anecdote re your neighbor! :-)
The National Geographic used to publish some very interesting children's books. One such has pictures of people from all over the world. This was before the days of heightened PCism and is not only fascinating, but very helpful when discussing what different peoples look like.
Re what people with Portuguese ancestry look like, mine is anecdotal as well, as I know quite a few people who do and know what they and their kiddos look like.
I know you do. ;^)
Spot on! :-)
You got a very decent education unlike so many people in America these days - better than mine although we are the same age generally. This is why we always complain about Free Republic in the last 10 or so years.
Just pull one of the three volume set of A.L. Rowse's ANNOTATED SHAKESPEARE. The print, of Kean as Othello has him in a tunic and bi8g hoop earrings, but no, no hint of anything Negroid. There are tons of other photos and prints illustrating that play, throughout that chapter and though there was one black actor, Ira Adldrige, who played Othello in the late nineteen century, in America, that didn't "stick".
And whilst Othello is called "black", remember that back then Cleopatra was called "dusky" and she was a pure blood GREEK. Words have been used differently over time.
It isn't whether someone went to college, has a post grad degree...anyone can be well educated by just reading on their own. Too few bother to do that/educate themselves; sadly.
16 day trip! The baby is not due until Spring. One NEVER tries to usurp a bride on HER day. This vulgar woman just proved what everyone has worried about with the marriage to Prince Harry. She is cold, selfish, phoney, and uncouth, and lacks the basic manners and kindnesses of the lowliest of people. Apparently the title of Prince or Princess will not be automatic for this offspring; to be determined by the Queen alone.
Take it up with historians. There are several books written about her so complain to the authors.
OTOH...Andrew has always pushed for his girls ( Beatrix and Eugenie ), to be called princesses and they are.
The idiot Harry and Sparkle Markle's yet to be born child will be 8th in line to the thrown, unless and until Wills and Kate have another child.
Also, the case for it is hypothetical; not to mention unprovable, because going back nearly 1,000 years, there is NO proof, none at all, that the person who proffered this ridiculous thing, can't even prove that one of the ancestors had even a drop of Negroid blood, let alone is an actual ancestor of Charlotte!
Wow why dont you tell us how you really feel? I hope they have a healthy baby.
You state that Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, softened the creepy royal genes and now hers (Meghan’s) should help pretty them up a bit more. Perhaps. However, there is a chance that Meghan’s maternal genes (from her mum Doria Ragland) will be predominant. The wee one, upon arrival, may stand out from the crowd of other royal offspring.
Thanks, nopardons (and miss marmelstein). I didn't think it was true that George III had a black or part black wife. If that was true, I'm sure we would've known about this years ago.
And the screwy report, trying to make Charlotte part "black" is even MORE distant than that of Fauxhantas' "part Cherokee" ancestry; if it is even remotely true. :-)
LOL!
The House of Windsor is mostly Germanic with some ancient Brit ( which include Norman French, Germanic [ Angles & Saxons ], and Celt )thrown in.
This very NEW (1996) tripe is a HUGE stretch and even the person who wrote up Charlotte's supposed ( read guessed at ) lineage said that he wasn't sure/certain that the maybe/possible/supposed person who MIGHT have been part "black" ( read Berber, a group who is NOT part of the Negroid race at all ! ) may not even have been part "black", or even one of Queen Charlotte's ancestry.
Why some people, here, even remotely believe this claptrap, I don't know. Did they just read a headline somewhere? Have they read the original paper, as I have? I don't know.
And the painting and photos that were posted, to "prove" the "blackness" of Charlotte are laughable in the extreme!
Painters have their own styles and yet, all of the paintings of Charlotte do NOT show her as looking even remotely like she's of ancient Berber ( Arab ) nor Negroid blood.
Re the photos of Queen Victoria and her progeny don't look like they are part anything except Caucasoid. And I've seen many hundreds of photos and paintings of Victoria and her family.
Glad that you liked my little quip about Fauxhantas. :-)
People here shouldn’t doubt NP’s expertise in this. She’s been studying English history for a long time - especially royal history.
Brava, ma’dear.
When my mother was a little girl, she had a book about the kings & queens of Europe. I read it when I was 8 and from then onwards, I was off and running, re reading and learning more about those in that book and those not in it. It's been a life long hobby. :-)
I probably know the most about English history and the Royals, but also am not too shabby, when it comes to some other countries and their Royals/leaders as well. I just really am fascinated by history; especially certain eras.
