Shouldn’t they redo this with D & K2 supplementation?

And aren’t there a host of other illnesses associated with D deficiency?

Seems to me they haven’t done enough homework to be calling for changes in treatment protocols.

“Shouldn’t they redo this with D & K2 supplementation?”

Exactly. Not to mention that the dosage used was far below what’s necessary for any meaningful therapeutic response.

Yes! - Absolutely.

Nothing in nutrition can work alone; the entire 97 elements of nutrition must be in your diet.

And yes. There should be a study (not a meta study which can be performed on any toilet with a laptop in hand) contrasting people who supplement enough D3 and K2 to bring up their blood levels to 70 or more, contrasted with the people who do not supplement at all and have low blood levels of D.

I agree.

Noting that I am not a dietitian, please consider the following.

The article failed to distinguish between D2 and D3, D3 being important in our diet.

Note that skin produces D3 when exposed to UVB in sunlight. Because of sunlight issues, D3 supplements are important for people who work in buildings, also areas that don’t get as much sunlight.

Note that D3 produced in skin is not immediately bioavailable. In fact, if you shower every day then you’re probably washing your natural D3 down the drain, another reason for D3 supplement.

Corrections, insights welcome.

Last winter I thought my autoimmune disorder was out of remission. My doctor tested for that and my Vit D levels. I felt awful-could hardly lift my arms over my head. The prescription megadoses of Vit D (50,000 mg/week) resolved everything.

Vitamin D is crucial to our well being and pretty hard to get here in the cold north.

Thankfully, my autoimmune disorder remains in remission.

Yes you are correct. These researchers are morons. D3 assists the absorption of calcium into your system. K2 then pushes the calcium into your bones. You have to take the two in conjunction with each other. We take both together every day. The K2 helps keep calcium from building up in your arteries by pushing it into your bones.
