My slips get worn out, too. You can tuck them in the top of your nylons, though!
I’ve been working on a Bible study since I got home from church, but I’m going back for a meeting in about half an hour. First, I’ll go work on the boys’ laundry some more. Pat wore his uniform pants out: big holes in the tush!
Maybe Elen’s thinking about involvement in SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) or some such hobby when she gets free time. One of my cousins was a member and his wedding was SCA-themed (and a blast!). Also, I have a couple of oriental broadswords that I used for double-broadsword groundfight training. (Good for coordination and you really rotoroute a few neural tunnels while you’re at it.)
I learned by blogging for years that you never know what is going to catch the fancy of readers. My favorite stuff is usually met with puzzled looks while throw away lines catch fire.
Awww—thank you!
After all the 'you're all gonna die' forecasts from the weather foregnosticators about the monstrous blizzard bearing down on us, it turned out to be anticlimactic. Maybe two - three inches of snow at most topped by a really thick layer of ice.
Instead of the six - eight (some sources had it up to 12) inches it turned out to be more like this..
My friend said he was proud of the weather bureau. They had accurately predicted eight of the last three snow storms.
Yes. That they have done. ;-)
That’s funny, Bob!
I usually donate mine when I get tired of looking at them, but this one has hung on for a long time. It’s one of those with the adjustable hems — as long as you shorten it. But the elastic just gave out. That takes a while when you wash things in cold water and hang them to dry!
And yes, I tucked it into my pantyhose once I got to the church bathroom. I couldn’t do it out here because of the apartments nearby. It’s possible no one is up before 0900 but me, but I didn’t want to show my backside, just in case.
Elen doesn’t like to dress up.
Looks so floofy with all that soft hair! I heart dat fing!
The clothes have been sorted and I’m ready to make the 25 yard hike to the laundry room. Since this is linens day, it will take me an hour, so I’m going to get out of here and do it.
Then, when it gets light outside, I’ll take the last of the stuff to the donation “pod” and that will be the indication that I’m settled in. So this week, its the finishing touches of putting all the “soft” things into Space Bags, and building the bathroom cabinets and I’m done. With room to walk around!
(It’s absolutely wonderful to not have to see storage tubs everywhere I look, and wish I had something that’s packed in “one of them, somewhere.”)
Good luck with the wash, and watch your step in the dark! I know it seems like forever since you moved, but it’s only been about six weeks. You’ve been very diligent about getting everything squared away.
Oooooh, fuzzy!
Improve her sword fighting technique?
Congrats!
It might. She wants us to ship her guitar to her. Maybe she’ll join a band if she gets stuck there.
Is her location undesirable? I’m not familiar with it (29 something?).
I bought a little bike set of head- and tail-lights (the latter being red, and therefore useless to me) and have the headlight attached to the front of the laundry cart/granny cart, and also have an LED flashlight that I got at Walmart for $1. I thought it was going to be one of those throwaway lights, but it has three AAA batts in it, so I use that for the lock on the laundry room door.
The security candles on the street are horrendously dim, and when you add the fact that there is no sky glow here, the outdoors is very dark at night.
I lived amidst storage tubs and couldn’t find anything for so long, that anything longer than a week to unpack is almost more than I can deal with. BUT! There is an awesomely good bonus in this move: *happy dance* This morning when I went to brush my hair, I pulled it back away from my face and saw hundreds of short, curly new hair growth!
Thanks, SG! I keep telling people, “It’s good to be home!” and it really is. :o])
Twenty-Nine Palms CA is in the middle of the Mojave Desert and is blisteringly hot in the summer. Nothing but sand and yucca and Joshua trees. And the accompanying desert wild life...rattlers, sidewinders, Gila monsters, tarantulas, cactus...
I like the area, but then, I’m always going to be a child of the desert. ;o]
