Excalibur was the first movie I bought on VHS when I got a recorder/player and the first DVD when I got a DVD player.

I could watch it every week and not get weary of it.

I even bought the soundtrack and have it on my iPods.

Boorman unified the mood of every scene by placing colored gels on the lighting, which becomes really obvious when you know to look for it.

He did the same with The Emerald Forest.

And Nicol Williamson was the best Merlin, ever.

I saw it for the first time when I was about 10 or so...loved that Arthurian stuff (liberal parents lol) on cable...I was a little too advanced for my age (born in 72; I'd already read 1984 and got most of it by then)...shoot I still rant about how good "The Emerald Kingdom" was 😎 Boorman was a savage 😀
