OK, if those songs are not appropriate today, can anybody explain to my how the lyrics of the gangsta rappers and guys like Eminem are appropriate today?
Melanie. Rollerskates.
Whole Lotta Love
“Nobody’s Fault But Mine” - Led Zeppelin
It’s always someone else’s fault
So what about some of the modern rap “songs”?
RE: I Will Follow Him..the original stalker song!
How about “Every Breath You Take” ?
Just read the first two lines:
Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I’ll be watching you
Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I’ll be watching you
Not the 70’s (it was ‘85), but I note that the PC police have managed to expunge the line “That little faggot with the earring and the makeup - yeah buddy, that’s his own hair...” from “Money For Nothing”. And it took most of the song’s meaning with it when it went.
There you go!
Young Girl by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. Better Run, girl, you’re much too young, girl!!
I believe he also did another creepy song alluding to young flesh.
The Louie Louie song had something about brown sugar being trouble.
Just think they use that song in soooooo many TV ads! LOL!
RE: So what about some of the modern rap songs?
Right, if I tried posting the words here, I’d probably be banned by the admin mod.
Jackson Browne “Rosie”
But Rosie you’re all right - you wear my ring
When you hold me tight - Rosie that’s my thing
When you turn out the light - I’ve got to hand it to me
Looks like it’s me and you again tonight Rosie......
She’s a Dancer, by Cracked the Sky (1975):
When I look into her eyes,
I can see through his disguise . . .
RE: The Louie Louie song had something about brown sugar being trouble.
That song was about an inter-racial couple and prejudice.
I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
The beat was going strong
Playing my favorite song
I could tell
It wouldn’t be long
‘Til he was with me
Yeah, with me
And I could tell
It wouldn’t be long
‘Til he was with me
Yeah, with me”
I thought Chevy Van and Thunder Island might have made the list too.
I Love Rock and Roll has some pretty dicey lyrics too.
I thought a lot of these were nasty at the time they came out.
