A few miles west of Fort Riley is Abilene.
One of my earliest memories is driving across country to California, after Dad returned from Korea in 1952.
We stopped in Abilene, to visit my Grandmother's family there and took a color photo of Dwight Eisenhower's home, a photo very similar to this one:

When I last visited the Eisenhower home Ike’s bedroom was as he left it for West Point. His childhood hero was George Washington. Not a bad role model, eh?
