Sessions had no business taking a job he could not do. Because of his ego we have Rosenstein and Müller.
He could have helped MAGA as SecDef, Chief of Staff or remained a respected Senator. What a shame.
For better or for worse, the Clinton “matter” had to be off limits at first. Justice cannot have prosecutors demonstrating an axe to grind, perceived or real. That does not mean Sessions is either unqualified or uninterested in, other pursuits toward law and order. Moreover, the DOJ is far from coterminous with Sessions’s person.
What would have prevented Hussein on the morning of Jan 20 2017 from issuing pardons to a raft of cabal minions and even himself, with no public notice? Absolutely nothing, and he would have been an idiot if he didn't.
Assuming Rosenstein's federal crime slate was wiped clean, how was Trump and Sessions to bring him to justice? By putting him in the position of signing the two post-inaugural renewals of the fraudulent Carter Page FISA warrant on behalf of the DOJ. Normally that responsibility would have fallen to Sessions, but he was recused from anything related to the Russia investigation. Gee, funny how that worked out!
Now Rosenstein has been trying to make a last-minute pitch to Trump to not declass parts of the FISA warrant and expose his culpability, but Trump won't see him. He's toast, and he did it to himself in service of a cabal which holds itself above the Constitution and rule of law, and he had the opportunity to do it to himself because that was the intention of Sessions and Trump.
