I was flying a kite and it got caught on a nanny, says one of the little Banks children, offering as good an explanation as any for the arrival of the ultimate child-minder in this new trailer for Disneys Mary Poppins Returns.
Directed by Rob Marshall and starring Emily Blunt in the title role, the musical, floating down just before this Christmas, is a sequel to 1964s Julie Andrews classic, and judging by this trailer seems spot-on in terms of tone and style. Theres even a big, splashy and colorful animation-live action hybrid scene, complete with penguins.

I read at least one of the books and saw the 80s version. It was great. I’ve also visited Prince Edward Island and the house.

I luv the 2nd series. The costumes are gorgeous, and whatever location was used as “Kingsport” I want to visit.

Gregory Peck and Andy Griffith were likewise deranged leftist a-holes in real-life.
Andy Griffith's last wife, an actress more than thirty years his junior, had his remains buried FIVE HOURS after he died. Then she had their house demolished.
Now THERE'S a real-life Matlock mystery for you.

Oh, you know the bit where she complained about being typecast into ‘nice girl’ roles, and decided to go bad, marry inspector clouseau (or something like that) and show her **** off for the camera.
I forget the exact details, but to be honest, I prefer the Maria/Mary type. Too bad they’re not real, apparently.

Not seeing anyone Black in the images released so far. The adults are Jane and Michael, who also appear White. Well, this just won't do. There is too much white privilege being bandied about in stories/movies such as this.

In the remake Bert the chimney sweep gets scrotal cancer and dies.
The kids get cholera from a London fire plug.

A lot of women make that particular error.
They seem to believe that the way to attract men is to act trashy.
However, that only draws trashy men, and good guys do indeed prefer Maria.

Agreed. Too bad there wasn’t a follow on series. The third in the series takes place during WWI. Not that great IMO.

Too cool. Hey, maybe a visit to PEI would be a nice surprise anniversary present for my wife. :)
BTW, the music is good too — Haywood Goody. We loved it so much that we bought the CD.

He can still dance
The question is, why? He had a knee replaced at age 85, and immediately went out on the road doing dinner theater. Is he that broke?
