I’m not on board with the idea of anyone being secretly detained (in Gitmo or anywhere). That just flies in the face of Constitutional protections for due process and Habeas Corpus. More importantly, I don’t believe President Trump would condone secret courts or tribunals. That is the stuff of tyranny and I’ll never accept that our President is capable of it.

I’m inclined to believe that the DOJ is slow-walking indictments and prosecution in the hopes that they can convince these bad actors to rat one another out and take a plea so they don’t have to actually prosecute anyone. This is ultimate goal of every prosecutor, no matter if it’s at the local, state or federal level. It always ends up looking like justice wasn’t served in the end. On the other hand, it would save our country years of court proceedings and appeals that could easily outlive President Trump’s 2 terms in office - not to mention billions of dollars and years of civil turmoil as citizens take a side in the fight.

This is just my rationalization of what seems like paralysis in the DOJ. I hope that I’m wrong. There’s nothing I want more than to see these seditious traitors utterly ruined and slapped behind bars for a good long time. I’m a true believer in the deterrent effect of severe punishment for severe crimes. The rational side of me is doubtful that will happen.

I think that tribunals could be concealed at the request of those indicted. Someone like McCain could argue that their reputation would be needlessly, permanently tarnished, the jury pool for future trials (of his) tainted by notoriety of going to trial, testifying.

It’s true of civilians who are charged and go through a murder trial and though acquitted, often suffer the second glances and innuendos if not outright accusations - the act of enduring a trial and “having to answer” for oneself can be seen as imparting a stigma, and in the case of politicians, one the “presumed innocent until proven guilty” may never overcome.
I believe these people are guilty, but the trials/tribunals commence with the understanding that it is not known and may therefore move to conceal it at the request of those on trial.
THere’s also the threat (promise) of civil unrest on the part of the deep state and people like Maxine Waters. I believe POTUS and his team will act wisely.

Nice post. I agree with your analysis of POTUS’ strategy and motivations. I do not know how the idea got started that there are going to be massive secret arrests and detentions, military or otherwise. I do not find this assertion in Q.

Having said that, there are some very practical reasons for the delays, namely:

1) We already have a “Won game” on the 2018 elections. Arresting several of POTUS’ political opponents prior to the election would—at a minimum—suck all the oxygen out of the political theater, including any chance to talk about the great economy, the great tax cuts, the great foreign policy victories, the many promises kept. In short, it would be a GIFT TO THE RATS, letting them off the hook for their LOSING POSITION of tax, tax, tax, hate, hate, hate.

2) We need the 5th Constitutionalist Justice to be confirmed, because SCOTUS will see LOTS OF ACTION as soon as the DoJ starts to move on members of the prior administration and the intelligence community.
