The American States essentially voided all Crown lands with the winning of the Revolutionary War. They became booty of war, property of the various colonies. The king had no land in South Carolina to grant to Daniel Payseur. Any such grant deed would have been laughed out of the court house in the county seat where it was presented for recording as null and void.
