Trump needs to ORDER Mueller to not release any information or reports, or initiate any prosecutions, after Labor Day, so as to be in line with DOJ guidelines on influencing elections. That would not be interfering in an investigation, it would impact only the timing. I believe that Mueller specifically intends to do whatever he can in October in order to help the Democrats win Congress, and probably considers that the DOJ guidelines don’t apply to him. In fact, Rosenstein might tell Mueller that it’s ok for him to violate them. So, Trump needs to step in and lay down the law.
Then, after Republicans hold on to the majorities, increasing the Senate Majority in the process, Trump can go ahead and fire Mueller anyway, and tell him to pack up shop. Maybe Rosey, too. Maybe those US attorneys who filed the Cohen case and made up a crime that doesn’t exist. That right there revealed them to be partisan hacks, not professional prosecutors. Then initiate investigations into the Manhattan DA and see what sludge can be found there. I bet there’s lots of federal crimes can be found in that office.
IOW, kick some ass, like a President can.

2. "The press reporting is that he offered his resignation yesterday, effective IMMEDIATELY. That's what happens when you are told that your are the subject of an OPR or OIG investigation.
3. "After more than a decade of service, which included investigating terrorism, working to rescue kidnapping victims overseas and being special assistant to the director, I am reluctantly turning in my badge and leaving an organization I love. Why? So I can join the growing chorus of people who believe that the relentless attacks on the bureau undermine not just Americas premier law enforcement agency but also the nations security. My resignation is painful, but the alternative of remaining quiet while the bureau is tarnished for political gain is impossible. - Josh Campbells public resignation letter, NY Times, link above
4. "Asked about the impetus for Brand's departure, one associate who asked not to be named said, "Because she is very smart, accomplished, and talented, and wants to protect her career""- Politico reporting
