Yeah great song by Timi Yuro.

I was a fan of about 6 songs by Elvis. But the real R&R kings of the mid to late 50s was Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Antoine “ Fats” Domino.
(Well Little Richard was perhaps a queen of R&R. ).

When Elvis got fat, wore white leather jumpsuits and shilled in Los Vegas he was through to me.

I was returning from the rifle range in August 1977 when the DJ on the radio announced his death. He was young. Sad.

Ironic that the “King of Rock and Roll” and the “Queen of Soul” both died on August 16th.

My favorite song by Timi Yuro is What's the Matter, Baby? from the spring of 1962.

I remember being 10 when I heard on the radio that Elvis died.

We were pulling into the parking lot at Sambo's for dinner.

I was just a kid, but I knew it was a big deal.

Elvis was 42.

That seemed so "old" to me, but now that I'm 51, I realize just how much life Elvis squeezed into his short time on earth.
