After more than a century behind bars, the beasts on boxes of animal crackers are roaming free.
PETA says wanted to show the animal crackers free Animal rights group has been protesting circuses for years
Mondelez agreed and started working on a redesign. In the meantime, the crackers namesake circus Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey folded for good. The 146-year-old circus, which had removed elephants from its shows in 2016 because of pressure from PETA and others, closed down in May 2017 due to slow ticket sales.
The redesign of the boxes, now on U.S. store shelves, retains the familiar red and yellow coloring and prominent "Barnums Animals" lettering. But instead of showing the animals in cages implying that theyre traveling in boxcars for the circus the new boxes feature a zebra, elephant, lion, giraffe and gorilla wandering side-by-side in a grassland. The outline of acacia trees can be seen in the distance.
PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman says shes celebrating the box redesign for the cultural change it represents.

When I was a kid I think the boxes had perforations in the front you could punch out so you could make bars for your animals inside.
There’s a HUGE point that stares out like the sun, which no one here has yet mentioned.
These are BARNUM’s animal crackers. You know, the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. A 150+ year old American institution beloved by millions for generation after generation. But not anymore
PETA killed the circus first. The crackers are a mopping up operation.
PETA is one of the most evil organizations on the planet, murdering more animals than those they so righteously accuse.
I would go on to eat these crackers for years to come and never noticed that the animals were in cages. So below, I was able to get a picture of the original box and sure enough, no cages! As for the bars, you can see that the lines are BEHIND the animals. Actually looks more like the siding on my shed than bars on some cage.
This is the kind of stuff PETA obsesses with? The packaging on crackers?
Dweeb Crackers?
I Love Animals as much as.. and in some cases.. even more than people.
PETA is NUTS!
Notice what’s also missing from the new Left wing approved version?
The next generation. Babies.
Maybe these fabulously free animals are already ... different.
On the original box the animals cages have wheels.. Perhaps illustrating circus boxcars moving from one city to the next. WTH is wrong with that? Nothing!.

Yup- they don’t worry so much about unimportant things like people in America starving to death, freezing to death, having diseases that could be cured but aren’t for lack of funds/proper health insurance, babies being murdered before they are born- etc etc etc- It’s much more important that they resolve the heinous crime of depicting fake animals behind fake bars-
peta has gone crackers over this.
Hahaha they are lefties so no it is a black horse that the establishment is trying to turn white even after he was let out of the oppressive environment of a cage they are still oppressing him
(the perfect world with out punctuation)
They did this because they DON’T want to comment on the mass live animal sacrifices happening at the Super Eid event in Minneapolis.
Yay! Fake cages gone! Victory!
I prefer my Land O’ Lakes one pound butter box where you make a stategic square cut-out where the indian girl’s knees are and replace it with a piece of the box behind it so it looks like the indian girl has big, er....teepees. We used to have one in the wheelhouse of the 115’ yacht that I used to crew on.
Wait one second, I thought putting caged animals back into the wild was certain death for them, is that what Peta has accomplished?
Is that one of those wimins animals that I heard about in her natural state?
