If you’re discovering Deep Purple, “Lazy” cuts to the heart of their blues roots. My personal favorite is “Hush”. Deep Purple changed keyboards when they direct connected the Hammond B3 to a Marshall.

Yeah, “Lazy” is another good one which shows their blues side.

I love “When a Blind Man Cries”, which is also blues influenced. Such a sad song. I have no idea why Blackmore hated the song and refused to play it. Metallica and Richie Sambora have recorded their own covers of the song.

I like “Hush” but my favorite song from DP’s original lineup is “April”.
