ALL political appointees require Senate approval. Read your Constitution. Only civil service and military employees are exempt. She gets a bye because she’s in an “Acting Position” until the permant officer gets approved. Obama had many of his political officers resign early so he could appoint strong supporters from the civil service cadres into “acting positions” while the political officers were hired as civil service bypassing competitive testing in management positions! Unless she does something overtly subordinate personally, she is likely safe BECAUSE she’s a civil servant in her regular position. The Democrats have been slow walking all of Trump’s appointees they can by playing parliamentary games in committees.
Senate committee sent Eric Dreiband for the DOJ civil rights job to the Senate floor a year ago. The slow walk is by Mitch McConnell.
That was from the article. I'm not sure if they do or not. They are deputy assistant attorney general positions at the Civil Rights Division. I don't think they need confirmation. I could be wrong.
