Way back in the early 90s, I was working security at a plant, and had to go across the parking lot for my clockround.

Suddenly there was this bright green thing going through the sky. And I swear it had a sizzling sound, like a sparkler firework.

Turns out it was a meteor, landed in North Carolina, and I was in Georgia. Interesting.

Interestiing, and the sizzling or crackling sound is often reported. :^)
