It was my impression that the ‘big meeting’ at NYPD HQ was a general meeting for presenting law enforcement priorities throughout the City and was not called solely to discuss Weiner. It was my impression that Weiner was presented in the context of a more general discussion of pedophilia and sexting.
What I guessed is that in the aftermath that among several presentations to the Chiefs, that some of the findings on the Weiner laptop were horrific and caused a lot of rumbling in the room.
As for the custody of the contents, it’s important to keep in mind there were two investigations, a state investigation into Weiner’s pedophilia and a federal investigation into Clinton’s emails. Feinstein said Congress was aware that the FBI had seized Weiner’s laptop and devices but it was not sure where the laptop was. To me that says it was likely Feinstein called the FBI field office in NYC and asked about the laptop only to be told “it’s not here”. In turn, that tells me they left it with NYPD after they got what they needed.

The FBI seized Weiner’s laptop and devices. My take is FBI copied the emails and gave the laptop to NYPD for their investigation of the pedophilia. This is supported by the FBI letter that Q posts a link to which has the FBI in possession of DVDs. It would be reasonable to think FBI seized Weiner’s laptop, copied Clinton emails and files to DVDs and left the laptop with NYPD who accompanied FBI in the raid of Weiner’s home.

I think that’s about all we are going to know at this time.
As for your comments of “not buying it”. There is nothing to buy. There are only bits and pieces to weave together into a summary that makes sense and fits what is known. No one in the public realm is going to know the full story until it’s released which may be never.

I thought it had come out recently that Peter Strzok is the FBI agent who gained custody/charge/control of the Weiner laptop to take it to DC - [or parts unknown]? - So he is said to be then, the last one known to have seen it?
