Actually, there is a very common midwestern saying “knee high by the 4th of July” meaning that the corn crop is coming along fine if it’s that tall by that time. So the saying itself is not at all weird.
But Comey being in an Iowa cornfield is VERY weird. Unless he has family there or something. He’s not from there. So WTH was he doing there?
