That’s the latest consensus. But now that I’ve staked out a position in favor of that idea, I see that on the chans they are discussing a new one. Something about a D5 organization of countries?? I didn’t pay close enough attention. If I stumble on it again, I’ll report back.

I thought the new theory was credible. At any rate, it’s not DefCon 5, IMO.

Neon Revolt just pooh-poohed the avalanche theory, but I’m sticking with it because on 10 May, Q posted “The snowball has begun rolling - there is no stopping it now. D5.” (Q#1332). That seemed to solve the riddle for me.
