“So much in today’s world is about the immediate, it’s about the here and now, it’s about Twitter, it’s about Instagram and focusing on getting one day to the next,” said the Democratic governor, who presented what he calls his New York Crossings Project at the New-York Historical Society on Wednesday. “The reality is, it’s the long view that matters, and what are they going to say 10 years from now and 20 years from now and 30 years from now about what we accomplished while we were here?”

That's from the press conference announcing this absurdity back in 2016 ... and more to come.

So in summary stupid New Yorkers are focused on "the here and now" like how to provide for their families, but wise members of the elite are more focused on what the chattering classses 10 to 30 years from now say about our color palatte.

Adding insult to injury, he paid $30mm of our money to show New York’s colors, but the morons in the government must have neglected to specify the exact navy blue and gold colors for the tiles. So whoever provided the lowest bid on the contract must have then sourced the cheapest pigments possible, baby blue and bright green-yellow. The result, $30mm down the tube (literally) and the tunnel has nothing whatsoever to do with New York colors.

I go walking at a state park located within a couple miles of my home. I've been walking there for years, so I have a basis for comparison.

Last spring, new signs were installed by the entrances to the pool area of the park. The signs are on poles about five feet high, and they simply say "Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor". Each sign has a little flower garden planted around its base, and maintained by the park grounds staff.

To the best of my knowledge — and I've been going to that park since I was a child, though not as frequently as I go now — such signage has never been present before.

Mario Cuomo got his name cast into heavy bronze plaques that are placed next to the main door of every rest stop on the NYS Thruway, and recently the re-built Tappan Zee Bridge has been renamed the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. By Andrew, of course.

The governor cut the ribbon at the Queens Midtown Tunnel on Friday, revealing the blue and gold stripes that run its length — and quipped about the added burden.

“These construction workers had an added burden to deal with because every time I went through the tunnel, I would get out, and I would call them over and say, ‘You see this tile is crooked,’ ” Cuomo said.

Oldest trick in the book.

The contractor puts a couple of tiles in crooked, right near the entrance, at eye level, where they are sure to be seen.

The hope is that the person inspecting the work will point out those one or two tiles, and say, "Fix these two", and the rest get accepted without close inspection.

The proper response, as a manager, is to walk in, see the crooked tile, and say "This tile is an insult!", and then proceed to ding them on every little thing you can find.

But Cuomo will never figure that out. He is too smart for that.
