Maybe this is a silly question but Im guessing you may have a logical answer. Why is it that for months on end members of Congress have been demanding these fisa documents with no success, yet a foia request gets the job done? I understand they are redacted and all but just the fact they got a response is messing me up. Thanks

Interesting observation. Congress is asking the FBI for documents which they refuse to give. Apparently FOIA is not subject to the ability of the FBI to block its release. Never thought about the FOIA process in that light before.

Congress is toothless. They cannot indict, arrest or inflict any punishments unless they are willing to defund an agency like the FBI. (Not gonna happen.) Remember: Holder thumbed his nose at their contempt citation in Fast & Furious.
The only role of Congress in all of this is to get on TV.
