The explanation was that tungsten is tough. True, but an odd choice. Tungsten doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. Nor is it something that would spring to mind for most people. More likely would be Steel or Titanium (because of the “titanium” credit cards).

There’s a thing called a Batholith - essentially a boil on earth’s face where magma boiled up but cooled in a dome before it spread out like normal lava - rare earths concentration... they’re often called Pilot’s Knobs as they stand up/out enough to navigate by. One batholith here, Barringer Hill, has every rare element named. We flooded it underlake about 100yrs ago, then UT manhandled the mineral rights then I think leased them to Japan investors.

Yeah, it’s tough okay. It’s also used a lot for cutting tools. Or armor-piercing rounds if you don’t mind the expense over depleted Uranium....
