A Massachusetts police officer described as a “great family man and officer” died Sunday after a man attacked him with a rock, then took the cop's gun and shot him in the head and chest, officials said.
Weymouth police officer Michael Chesna, 42, was killed after he sustained "life threatening" injuries in the shooting just before 8 a.m., officials. Another woman in her home was also shot and killed when the suspect, Emmanuel Lopes, fired the gun three more times while escaping responding officers.
“Officer Chesna was an army veteran. In fact, I was speaking with his mom this morning and she told me she joined the military to help open the doors to get on this job [as a police officer],” Weymouth Police Chief Richard Grimes said in a news conference.

The name termination of ez being changed to es often indicates cultural adaptation. Murder comes first from the heart; not the skin or language. Borrowed platitudes. Don’t jump to conclusions because of the name. Portughese names (going back many generations) are common in SE Mass. They shocker is that it’s Weymouth, a decent enough town.

The first name has been spelled differently depending upon the media outlet. I’ve seen no info on whether the perp’s a citizen. But I’ll bet he’s got a record.
And I would like to know how a thug like that was able to get the drop on an experienced officer and vet. Are officers becoming too adverse to protecting themselves and the public? An elderly lady died, too, from a stray bullet fired by the perp.
Immigrate. Many of the people coming here do not see themselves as immigrants, but invaders...Conquerors. They come here and wave the flag of whatever shithole they came from and scream that they're going to make the USA the same as the shithole they came from. They don't want to speak English, they don't respect our laws or culture. What they want is the exact 3rd world existence they came from, but with a check from Uncle Sam every 1st of the month.

My sister in Hyannis said he old fishermen used the fishing route from Portugal back and forth and some stayed to make their homes in MA.
We nabbed hundreds upon hundreds of them coming across the S Texas border back in the early 2006 - '09. Then the US would not let them apply for sanctuary and it all dried up. Imagine that....
Lopes is a Portuguese name; there’s a lot Portuguese-Americans...LA Dodgers 2b Davey Lopes one example...if I’m not mistaken, Lopes was born in Rhode Island...so that area of USA may be a pocket where Portuguese (legal) immigrants once settled.
