I suspect that when Trump walked in front of the Queen to review the troops it was just a miscommunication. He would not be deliberately rude like that. She is so short that her mouth is pretty far away from his ear. Combine that fact with the factor of the accent and it’s easy to see how a miscue could occur.
When they were descending and ascending those stairs the husband and I both noticed that DJT was wanting to offer an arm to the Queen. You could see it in his body language. But I suppose royal protocol does not allow that.
I was guessing she’s so short she’s hard to keep track of and he thought she was moving faster than she was.
It would be pretty awkward to keep moving with both eyes fixed on her to make sure she didn’t slow down. And, when you do notice, you do slow down and let her keep up.
Walking behind might be appropriate to her subjects, but not to her peer. Staring at her to keep track of her location would be rude to the people he was there to see and give his approval to.
It’s like the Democratic articles published here. They try to find some small thing, then magnify it into something that it’s not.
I wouldn’t be surprised, though, to hear that she’s not fond of Trump. After all, her son and grandsons aren’t and there have to be some interesting conversations in that royal household after the courtiers set down the royal drinks and leave her royal presence.
But she’s a professional, and I’d be shocked to hear she made any opinion of a foreign head of state known to anyone. Her profession is to be gracious to everyone - of whatever class or position.
