I read in another post with the same idea but cant seem to find it. The thought process was that Trumps nomination of Kavanaugh was a chess move.
I liken it to a baseball manager making a call to the bullpen to get the other teams manager to also make a move with a batter.
So, is Kavanaugh a decoy? Trumps knows what will happen with the Senate and will let it play out and then nominate who he really wants?
Just wondering what other Freepes think.
I agree with some other editorials on this. If Trump gets Kavanaugh, great, if the Democrats are able to scuttle him, then Trump puts in a woman and makes all of them eat dirt voting against a woman.
Either way, there will be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth in campaign HQs today.
Sometimes a spade is just a spade.
Not enough time for a feint.
Kavenaugh will JUST squeak through before the 2018 midterms assuming the traitorcrats do every procedural move to slow things down.
If we don’t hold the senate in 2018 then rgb’s seat will go unfilled until the same party holds the Presidency and Senate.
This could be the last senate seat filled until 2020 or 2022.
I hope... I wanted more for us than this.
No.
Squishy Kennedy gets replaced by someone who will probably be less squishy, but not a firebreather either.
Makes it tougher for Dems to oppose, and reassures mushy middle voters for the upcoming midterms.
This will be nothing compared to when it comes time to replace a lib on the court.
I see Kavanaugh (XY) as more of a setup man for Barrett (XX) once Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg finally croaks.
I think there was some kind of consideration, a quid pro quo, in play. Trump cut a deal with the GOP establishment for whatever reasons. Just my sense given the Kavanough’s background, work history, and especially the prominence of Edwin Meese at last night’s announcement in the White House.
Trump needs three more reliable Republican senators to nominate Amy.

I read somewhere that Kavenaugh is said to be somewhere between Roberts & Scalia - the hope is he’s more towards Scalia.
Of course I’d like another Scalia, but I’m not complaining. We came way too close for comfort to having a Merrick Garland - if Hilly had won, she would have replaced him with someone far, far worse.
Kavanaugh is meant as a 2nd tier offering with Barret lurching in the background, ready to be nominated if the Dims dare block Kavanaugh. Then Barret will be nominated when the death panels take Ginsburg off life support.
That could well prove to be true. Right now it looks like there’s a pretty good chance that Trump will have another appointment.
With respect to RBG, its interesting in the sense of poetic justice that she didn’t voluntarily step down while Obama was in office.
I don't think Kavanaugh was his first choice, but given the circumstances, he will "probably" have a little less trouble being confirmed. With the slim margin in the senate, and that includes RINOs, the Walking Dead (Juan McLame), crackpots (Rand Paul) and the likes of dems pretending to be GOP - Murkowski and Collins, The President had to play the long game and make the prudent choice. I'm just a little afraid that Kavanaugh could turn out to be another one of the GOP "failures" - Earl Warren, Souter, Roberts(?) and the guy he clerked for - Kennedy.
What makes you think he didn’t really want Kavanaugh to begin with?
I think he will get confirmed.
This.
