A GSD recently killed somebody and really, no one cared enough to come in and argue over it.

If you were to walk around spinning a pistol on your finger and every now and then you flub and it fires a shot, you would be charged with a crime. The same should be true of a pitbull. If it goes off, you should be charged, just as if you were intentionally mishandling a weapon.

Pit bulls are the most favored breed for drug dealers.

Anyone who whips out “lex talionis” in a conversation is awesome, by me.

Props to my late Latin prof. He was pretty awesome. :-)

Dosbite.org relies on newspaper reports and does no independent verification of the breed involved.
When apprised of an error in the identification of a dog and provided with contacts to confirm that error,
they do not update their data and continue to use the false identification.

No integrity, can't be trusted. The dog version of the SPLC.
People that continue to use them as a source after being informed numerous times of DBO's lack of integrity,
also lack integrity and are interested only in their own agenda, not in the truth.

In all of history, Dobermanns have killed 10 people.

Nine of those were killed in defense of their owner.

:)

Yeah, they’re all over the place. Not sure why exactly. There is nothing inherently special about the breed but enough negative press to make one think twice.

Beats the boring old ‘eye for an eye’ adage.

Pits can be dangerous in any hands, because of their breeding. They have been bred to have very strong jaws that lock. They are bred to fight, be aggressive. They were bred to be dangerous to other animals and in the past few decades thugs have been breeding them to be aggressive to people.

I don’t have “a dog in this fight”...I somehow find the battle between pit bull advocates and pit bull objectors to be interesting in some way...I think because it seems so emblematic of many polarized issues. The gray area seems small...it is one of those issues.

I have this memory of Chet99 and always think he has been respawned on FR multiple times...I come into the threads out of curiosity to see if I can discern his/her spirit in any threads...kind of like Willie Green and some others.

I shouldn’t poke the thread, which is what I did. People do get emotional about this one.

“Pit bulls are the only breed of dog I’ll own.”

Why? No, seriously I’m sure your dogs are great but I’m curious what in your eyes makes the breed any better than other historically well-loved breeds?

So how do you explain the babies and children who have been attacked by dogs? Surely, the canines couldn’t sense a “bad soul” in them. I know they have a 6th sense but I cannot believe they have psychic powers to see into the future lol.

But Dobermans are like Black Assault Dogs!

What race, age and gang affiliation were the pit bulls’ owners?

Dogs are normally social animals but like people when they are raised in isolation they lose it. If you chain, pen or use any other way to isolate the animal he turns back to genetic disposition. In other words he regresses to a wolf state.

I don’t go to dog parks any more because some people bring aggressive dogs - usually pit bulls - and then turn them loose. My little lab puppy was attacked in my arms by a pit bull and bitten with no provocation at all.

I got my ccw and now carry. If anything like that happens again (the 2 other times he was attacked it was by pit bulls), I will simply draw my gun and empty the magazine straight into the pit bull. Not one jury in this country would convict me of anything.

Doberman Pinchers are extremely loyal and protective of their human owners. Much more than other breeds. They tend to be a one person dog. They will defend that person(their pack)much more than any other breed. They are also one of the most intelligent dog breed.

The reason Pit bulls(AKC American Staffordshire Terrier) have become such a problem is that their breed numbers including mixes have dramatically increased in the last 40 years. They are the preferred breed in “the hood”.

There are other mastiff breeds such as a Cane Corso that are just as dangerous but are bred in small numbers and very expensive to buy.

I am looking for the "Man Bites Dog" story to appear. Been waiting for it for a long time. Perhaps this will be the year. May a pit bull puppy be the victim, and a face-eating "zombie" the perpetrator.

Now that, to me, would be darkly hilarious. I can hear Bela Lugosi now, laughing from his crypt.
