Witch Hunt Update

Bloomberg is reporting that:

Mueller Poised to Zero In on Trump-Russia Collusion Allegations

This is pretty weak-sauce as far as reporting goes. The two reporters claim to have leaks from Mueller's team (that's the news here) that he "is preparing to accelerate his probe into possible collusion between Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and Russians who sought to interfere in the 2016 election"

That's sort of laughable, given that he's been at it for 15 months and hasn't bought one charge that has anything to do with either collusion (not a crime) nor obstruction (as construed (ie: firing James Comey, not a crime. And after the OIG report that showed that Comey was, at best a boob, it seems completely untenable to try to put Trump on trial for obstruction for firing an incompetent. But, it's Mueller who has already indicted a ham sandwich, so who knows?

Mueller and his team of prosecutors and investigators have an eye toward producing conclusions -- and possible indictments -- related to collusion by fall, said the person, who asked not to be identified. He’ll be able to turn his full attention to the issue as he resolves other questions, including deciding soon whether to find that Trump sought to obstruct justice.

The article then degenerates into a list of every Trump associate who has ever spoken to any Russian in any context, which totals 13. Not any new news in that, and they are (of course) ignoring the news since they first reported the story that most of the contacts appear to have been instigated as a counter-intel operation by the FBI for the purpose of entrapping them.

Then again Team Trump isn't doing a great job of telling that story yet either, including the left hand (Sessions, Rosenstein) not letting the right hand (Nunes, Gowdy) see the docs that prove the counter-intel dangle operation and therefore the existence of an attempted Deep State Coup. (which isn't over, and if Trump is removed prematurely will actually have worked).

I think Mueller's investigation is a witch hunt, but that doesn't change the fact that it is still happening.

And lets not forget: the purpose of a witch hunt is to catch a witch, and burn her. And many were!

Trump is still being hunted by his enemies, and the enemies have shown a lot more ability to draw blood than Team Trump in their visible counter-investigation.(The hidden levels that Q describes are mostly not yet visible, to date.)

So this remains worrisome to me, regardless of how low my opinion is of Mueller or the veracity of the claims being made by he and his minions, which I rate as also low.

Lies can harm Trump, just as fake witch hunts can hurt those "witches", even if they are just ordinary women.

Vanity Fair appears to be getting the same information, but they dress it up in a more realistic headline:

The special counsel is expected to reach a conclusion—and produce possible indictments—right around the midterm elections this fall.
Over the past few months, Donald Trump has tempered his threats to fire Robert Mueller, recognizing that he can just as easily undermine the special counsel in the court of public opinion. The strategy has been crude but, like a 19th-century bone saw, brutally effective. Rather than involve himself with personnel issues at the Justice Department, which Trump’s lawyers have surely advised him could be seen as further evidence of obstruction, the president has constructed an alternate reality in which the F.B.I. was part of a rabid conspiracy to prevent his election and the only “real collusion” was committed by his Democratic enemies.
He has tested the bounds of his constitutional powers, asserting unprecedented executive privileges including legal immunity, the ability to pardon himself, and to shut down federal investigations. As the Russia investigation races toward a conclusion, however, Trump and his Republican allies are due for a reckoning.
Mueller is reportedly winding down his obstruction probe—an interview with Trump is likely to be the capstone to that investigation—and moving on to whether there was an underlying crime to cover up.

So, there you have it: straight, no chaser. The purpose of the Mueller investigation has always been to "Get Trump", and at this point it's a two-fer, they are going to "Get Trump" and throw the midterms in the process.
