I have been on a desktop since Grover Cleveland was Prez; my son got me a Kindle maybe a year and a half ago. I did note that some emojis display differently on the two devices - no idea why - but everything else looked the same... Never considered a smart phone (which is undoubtedly too smart for moi) or other 'puting machines.
I am a retired electronic tech, with emphasis on retired. I set up the first transcontinental network radio / tv satellites between NYC & LA, and now I don't have a clue what sat tech is all about. Things are moving fast tech-wise.
