The bikini-clad teenager who was tackled and thrown to the ground by a Texas police officer has reached a six-figure settlement with the city.

Dajerria Becton, 18, will receive $148,850 from the city of McKinney three years after a video of the incident went viral and sparked protests and discussions about police treatment of young black people in America.

Many were horrified when a video was released showing McKinney Officer Eric Casebolt throwing Becton to the ground and digging his knee into her back.

The way this article is written makes me think they want black people to be immune from following any laws.

I wonder if she is related to Becton Dickinson.

That money will be gone within six months, possibly six weeks. "Gots to get dat bling."

She herself will be gone within five years, take your pick: overdose, murder, AIDS, suicide.

"...I wonder if she is related to Becton Dickinson?..."

She probably has a good shot at being related.

I would suggest everyone watch the video before commenting. I read FR for the comments. But this time the comments do not match the video.

The Chief of Police said the actions of the cop were indefeasible.

I was being a poop head after a fight was broken up one day after school. The cop grabbed me off my bike, dragged me across the ground and tossed me in the back of his cop car.

Is it too late to sue?

Things not brought up in the headline.
1) it was an unauthorized pool party
2) She and a bunch of teens tweeted and just showed up at a private community pool.
3) by a bunch, I mean dozens of teens spru of the moment..showed up at the pool they had no business or legal right to be at
4) she was extremely disrespectful to the officer-
5) she was a DINT DO NUFFIN
6) I wish I owned the local tire/rim shop.

Ecliptic and the Chief of Police are correct, this guy’s conduct was indefensible.

Disobeying lawful police order and resisting arrest. Simple.

The "Captain Kirk" style trip, roll and recovery by the cop at 0.22 was impressive and well executed.

I score that a 10.

After that it looked like everything was slowly getting under control. Couldn't tell what bikini girl did to the cop (too much camera shake) but it pissed him off and he started to lose control. Using four letter cuss words and drawing a weapon on unarmed teens seems a bit much.

That said, the teens don't get a free pass. Cops tell you to leave then leave. Cops tell you to sit then sit until the situation is sorted out. Meanwhile, anger management for the cop.

Police Chief was appeasing the black community. The cop had to get the little thugs corralled as it was one second shy of a riot. That gal was running her mouth and should have been turned over his knee for a solid spanking but that would have been abuse. He did right.

"...Many were horrified when a video was released showing McKinney Officer Eric Casebolt throwing Becton to the ground and digging his knee into her back...."

Not me. I know the backstory.

The female is a whore who along with other young whores was being pimped out by her mother. They called themselves "Dime bag girls". Their presence at the pool was a way to drum up business. They were not from the area. I believe they weren't even from Texas.

Oh, and the officer had just come directly from a stressful suicide call.

I not only did I support the officer, if I had been on site I would have gladly assisted beating these criminals severely and dumping them at the town limits.

Savages like these are the entire reason gated communities exist.

The surprising part...the cop dropped his flashlight during the fall...and a kid RETURNED the flashlight to one of his fellow officers.

Oh, and before anyone gets bent out of shape for me saying they have no business in a gated community, rest assured that criminals like these have had their own gated communities for many years now.

They’re called prisons.
