The larger question is how do you co-exist with people of radically different philosophies. England is getting scary because they’re legislating thought and opinion, the same direction in which Canada is going. We’ve had a more rational approach in the US. We encourage people to have their own opinions, regardless of how divergent, but we legislate against ACTS of bigotry. The problem comes when ANY group starts to gain political or judicial power and moves into the thought police realm - as the leftists have done.
So far, our political system has worked. When one side gains too much power, the weight of the sensible middle pulls on them until things go in the other direction. The pendulum approach. But notice that the point which the pendulum moves through the fastest is the middle.
What happened THIS time, which was scary as hell, was that the left tried to corrupt the political system to prevent the middle from forcing rationality on both ends of the political spectrum. And for THAT, they need to be exposed and publicly punished in a way that makes future politicians think many times before trying to SO corrupt our system.
The larger answer is to admit that it isn't possible and the sooner remedial action is taken the less it will hurt. The American Revolution was a prime example. I have no desire to co-exist with those who would see me dead if they had the balls. Like living with a dangerous animal, sometimes you got to shoot them to get along.
All crime is 'thought' crime first no matter how fleeting. The act should be punished, not the idea.
seriously because so many rely on cnn/usa today/npr one can not carry a conversation with them because they HAVE NO CLUE as to the truth...
sadly, I find myself more and more having little in common with some family members..
If the left succeeds it will be anarchy.
Citizens and Statesmen don’t think that way, Only Politicians!
You nailed it. Guess what happens when you pump too much air into a tire, or dam up a river without knowing what you’re doing?
It isn't rational at all. The problem is that those who stand on their 1st Amendment rights also stand on their 2nd amendment rights.
