Its been more than four years since Drew Barrymore gave birth to her youngest child, Frankie, but rude-AF body-shamers still think she looks pregnant. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 43-year-old actress recalled a recent interaction in which a woman came up to her and told her that she looks pregnant, despite Barrymore giving birth years ago.
The Santa Clarita Diet star told the story in a roundtable with other comedy actresses, such as Allison Brie, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Debra Messing. When Divorce actress Molly Shannon recalled an audition in which someone asked if she had gained like a hundred pounds, Barrymore was inspired to disclose her recent body-shaming experience.
Barrymorewho has two daughters, Olive, 5, and Frankie, 4, with her ex-husband Will Kopelmanrecalled a woman coming up to her at a restaurant and telling her that she has so many kids. When Barrymore corrected her, informing her that she only has two, the woman gestured at the actresss stomach, assuming that she has another on the way. Thats when Barrymore shut her down and told her that, no, she isnt pregnant, she just gained weight.
That happened to me recently, Barrymore said. Id gained a bunch of weight, and I was in a restaurant, and a woman goes, God, you have so many kids. And I was like, Well, two. And she goes, And obviously one on the way. I looked at her and, for the first time in my life, I go, No, Im just ****ing fat.'

Thank you. I have had the opposite experience. I was your normal, skinny kid; then, I hit puberty and wham, I had a weight problem. In my twenties, I was able to starve myself to thin-ness; but, after I had kids it was difficult.
I have tried every diet there is; but, none work. I used to be able to lose a few pounds; but, now I can't even do that. Occasionally, my body decides I need to have even more fat on my body, and it just gains weight -- I don't change my habits, it just happens.
Now, I am sure that there are people out there who still believe the bogus calories in/calories out stuff; and, they think I am lying about this. But, I am not. I really don't eat that much. And, as I've gotten older (I am 63), I am getting that old person's thing of not having much of an appetite.
I do not "chose" to ruin my health, and, in fact, I am quite healthy except for my weight. And, my knees are needing help; but, the doctors tell me that because my BMI is off, I don't get help. This is who I am, since puberty, it is who I have always been. Diets don't work for me; and, in some cases they seem to exacerbate the problem. I don't think anyone really understands why some people can eat anything and stay slim, and some people, like me, eat very little but look like we eat boxes of chocolates all day.
?
I feel your pain, Liz.
I had a short period of my life where I was slim - about age 17 to 30. I was a chubby kid and I am a chubby adult.
I went on one of those diets where they give (sell) the only food you are allowed to consume. They had me at 1200 calories a day, plus exercising daily, and it took me a month to drop two pounds. So they cut me back to 900 calories a day. At that it took me 6 months to loose 27 pounds.
Currently, I work out for 30 to 45 minutes 4 days a week, eat about 1500 to 2000 calories a day, and am gaining about 2 pounds a month. My job is fairly physical, I spend most of my day on my feet, often moving heavy boxes.
I am 6 foot tall and weigh in at about 280. I can bench 250 and leg press 400. Doctor says my heart is great, my blood tests all come back great, I just can’t lose weight.
Frustrating.
You’re healthy and carry a few extra ponds——so what!!!!!!!!!!!
There are certain thing doctors will always say, expecially when you get older, avoid coffee,be careful with the sweets, watch your cholesterol, get exercise, lose weight, don’t smoke, etc.
All things in moderation———and our genes seem to be in charge anyway. :-)
.
genes are a small part, but it’s mostly stress and the chemical imbalances that happen due to people not handleing stress well so the body doesn’t metabolize the same as it should, or people outright turning to food in times of stress.
Just pbecause some of us have more imbalance does not mean we can’t do some thing about it. Diets etc mess up our systems even more, make us more out of balance some times, thats why lose some then easily gain it back.
sleep is hugely important to weight loss and management yet so many people don’t get enough and laugh it off like it’s no big deal.
many of us are killing ourselves, - we are choosing to ruin our lives, a slow death by unhealthy choices in areas of sleep, stress, food, exercise, flexibility etc
“genes are a small part, but its mostly stress and the chemical imbalances that happen due to people not handleing stress well -————”
Yet genes could be responsible for the chemical imbalances due to stress-——who knows?

And clean, too. Very rare nowadays.
What’s wrong with being overweight? Hate that that’s the what people automatically fall to when they want to insult someone. Weight has nothing to do with who someone is.
I thought she looked pregnant in this photo also. Also, the woman assumed she was pregnant and was not trying to be hostile, so why the anger Drew!
Physically there’s plenty wrong with it. Why do you think millions of people struggle to control their weight, as I do?
Anyway, it was just a joke. Unlike liberals I don’t apologize if “someone was offended.”
Line from old cereal commercial: “What a wonderfull maternity dress”...Special K Cereal.
My wife was pumped up with so much IV fluid during delivery that when she went for a walk outside the hospital the day after giving birth, a lady told her it would be so much easier for her after delivery. "I gave birth yesterday", my wife explained. "But I'm too tired to get angry!"
She, along with Alyssa milano, peaked around age 8 or 9.
Neither will ever get over that fact.
She would look pretty good if she lost ten or forty pounds.
I am 49 and have a 2 year old and a 6 month old.
I have no idea how that happened.
Mine were both born when I was north of 40 - they think we are old no matter what.
