It's hard for me to believe they are going to go after any news organizations. The Press is not exempt from secrecy laws, but they are given a lot of leeway.
The one case where Nixon tried to prevent the NY Times from printing the Pentagon Papers, he lost. (Amazing, horrible decision, IMHO, but still it happened.
If the DOJ starts arresting reporters for merely accepting tips then the story will flip 180* from "what this leaker did was wrong" to "see, Trump is trying to censor and shut-down the press".
Another thing is that the classification on this stuff was just reflexive. The thing the revealed was that Carter Page was going to be testifying to the SSCI. That's not much of a state secret when you get down to it.
I don't think even I (who hate these tard reporters) would approve of arresting a reporter for reporting that.
So, no, I don't think they took a bunch of times to figure out who else in ABC, NBC, CNN and the New York Times were involved, because they knew from the get-go it was too trivial a "secret" to try to bring any case against reporters and newspapers.
The Pentagon Papers decision said "the Government can not use prior-restraint to prevent publication of things they don't like". So the NY Times published legit top-secret stuff about our war effort, in THE MIDDLE OF THE WAR.
Even so, Nixon never sought to prosecute anyone at the Times or Post after the fact. Given all that I just can't believe the newsies are the targets.
I'll agree that the media's pretty much indictment-proof.
However.
Enough people inside gummint get perpwalked for spilling to the media, those poor little newsies are going to run out of open doors or "sources" who will even answer their phone calls...if only for an invite for a "nooner".
And that's even if security doesn't get tightened to the point that a Press Pass (especially presented by a known Bad Actor) won't rate a front seat at a Tourist Tour and maybe even cost some Big Timers the credentials to have a staff in Washington. (The latter won't happen I know even if in a just world most of the WH Press Corps now present should be thrown out of the place.)
It's hard for me to believe that the Trump admin will not be going after the media. What for? Posting what they thought were, or was indeed, clas info, but also for lying knowingly, over and over again, and working in cahoots (I'm sure there is a legal term for that) with Dems to try to bring down Trump.
IOW, the media is and has been knowingly writing and spouting on the Teev lies, lies lies lies. Politically motivated, acting as the lying propaganda arm of the Dems (and a few Rs) who were working illegally to bring down a president.
And as others noted, the time lapse was not just delving into the media whores, but gov weasels as well.
The head of F'ing *Security* for the Senate Intelligence Committee, banging a girl young enough to be his grand daughter, and leaking like a sieve (presumably) in return for sexual favors=Trump is oppressing the press.
