No kidding...the money made off illegal human trafficking would probably make Amazon blush. I guess we see now why so many “public servants” on government salaries...Flake, McCain...can acquire net worth in the hundreds of millions, or billions.
I don’t know if Flake has been in public service long enough to get rich. I hope he’s finally flamed out.
But, McCain, unlike many others, didn’t get rich from public service. He got rich by marrying Cindy, who was heiress to a sizeable amount of money from her father, a big beer distributor. So, McCain married the money, and used it to fund his campaign to become Senator and feed his ego.
As an aside, Kerry was already a Senator, but not doing well financially—sleeping in his office—when Senator John Heinz died in an airplane crash, leaving Mozambican born Theresa Heinz with a billion dollar fortune, but without the decoration of a Senator. Kerry was available, and the match was made. So, he married the money.
