Lost My Beloved Dog Teddy Today
Self ^ | 5/30/2017 | USConservative

Today I lost my companion of 13 years. He was in early onset kidney failure back in January. He'd been on medication to manage it and seemed to be doing fine. He was eating, sleeping, drinking water, playing, etc..

This morning he urinated almost all blood and I rushed to the vet and was informed his kidneys were deteriorating and it was just a matter of time now.

I had to make the painful decision I've had to make before with each one of my dogs and that decision never gets any easier.

My ex-wife came to be with me so I wouldn't have to do this alone. I held Teddy as he passed telling him to go find Jerry, Sandy, Shiner and Licker (yes that was his name) and to play with them. I told him I'd see him soon and asked our Lord to send all my boys over the hill to get me when my time comes.

I'll see you soon Teddy. I love you and I miss you so much already!

Thank you Jesus for entrusting that wonderful, beautiful animal to my care and all the lessons I learned through him. I have no regrets for letting that animal into my heart and my life. Thank you so much!

I love you Teddy!

Dad.

Thank you for sharing and for your kind words. We get far more in return from them then I think they ever get from us.

Dogs are a blessing from God, IMO. I think our Lord and Teddy knew that "he did his job" getting me through the turmoil of these last few years and it was time to say goodbye.

My faithful, loving friend. I miss him so much.

So sorry about Teddy. I’ll hug my dog a little longer today just knowing one day she’ll be leaving. They never live long enough.

My heart goes out to you. I lost my four-legged gift from the Creator last June.
You will grieve but focusing on the love and joy he brought to you will help balance the pain.

Dogs are loyal and loving for the most part. You will probably need another one. :)

I know it hurts. It’s OK to cry.Dogs are so lovable and have a lifespan shorter than some birds.Sound crazy but true.So we go through this every 15 years because their worth it.I get it.

Quote from Billy Graham:

God will prepare everything for our perfect happiness in heaven, and if it takes my dog being there, I believe he’ll be there.

I’ll pray for you. Think about a rescue, nothing to lose, everything to gain.

Hang in there friend.

So sorry about Teddy. Dogs are wonderful companions and the best members of a family.

We lost our rescue girl 2 weeks ago to hemangiosarcoma. She was only 11. Our home is so quiet now. I have cried everyday since she passed. The time with her flew by so fast. My heart aches for her. We miss her sooooo much. She was the most incredible dog I have ever been blessed to have in my life.

Hugs to you. May God comfort your heart.

OMG, Faith, we lost our cattle dog to that same thing 5 years ago. Horrible disease. Her name was Hoshi, which is Japanese for Star, but I used to say it meant Spawn of Satan! Sweetest dog but still a demon. For example, she ate our outdoor couch and then was starting to consume the stucco on the house! She calmed down after age 2 and was a great dog for the next 11 years until she suddenly collapsed. We were devastated and cried for weeks. We got a rescue a year later, but sadly he’ll never hold a candle to our Hosh.

usconservative, you were a great dad to your precious Teddy and he knew it and adored you right back. Labradoodles are gorgeous dogs, BTW, and I’m kinda jealous you got to have one. I hope you get past your grieving period soon so you can begin to treasure all your happy memories with Teddy, and I’ll say a prayer that your heart heals quickly. Teddy wouldn’t want you to suffer so.

This may not be what you want to hear right now, the pain and loss are still too raw, but you clearly love dogs and are good with them. There are hurting dogs who need someone. You’re hurting, they’re hurting. Go out to the rescues and find one. You’ll heal each other. No dog can ever take the place of your Teddy, and that’s not what you’re trying to do. But, do some good in the world and do a good turn by another sweet dog who’s in a bad circumstance not of his or her choosing. That’s the way through this, or at least it seems so to me having lived it a few times. Yes, it rips your heart out, I feel for you. Do consider this, though.

I am so sorry for your loss. Always a difficult decision to make and the pain is heart wrenching. You gave Teddy a great life, he was loved and loved you in return.

I'm doing my best to do that this morning.

Last night my family (ex-wife, both sons and I ...) gathered to celebrate Teddy's life together. I made dinner, we all communed together and shared memories. It helped. I still didn't sleep last night and have the same stress headache I had yesterday. Still very raw.

Thank you for sharing and for your kind words. Freeper dog owners are simply the best people on earth.

Maybe some day. I still grieve the loss of all my canine companions on the day they passed. Today I'm grieving Teddy and remembering them all as well.

I have this picture in my mind of them all together as I type. Sad, but smiling about that.
