Fantastic about the house!
My new batch of bees arrived today. I got them into the hive after dinner. I wanted to wait for it to cool off a bit, as it was 85 when I got home. They seem more active than the last bunch. Also, the queen is very close to escaping her cage: there’s a narrow hole all the way through the “candy” plug, that just needs to be enlarged a bit.
Also checked the garden, and found some of the winter squashes are coming up; but not the summers. Also, 9 of the 12 shallots are up so far.
We got about 1-1/2” of rain in the last week, in 1/4-1/2 inch increments; really helped the weeds!
It’s now nap time.
Good news on the bees it seems. We have no squash yet - just flowers. We do have some peaches and apples this year - a first. The protection bags came in the mail today. Hubby is going to bag them to keep them safe from critters. Hope it works.
He finished the last jar of grape syrup I made last year. He’s determined to save more grapes from birds with the bags this year. Since we are both reducing sugar, and almost never eat toast and jelly anymore, I experimented and made syrup instead.
