The object in the image is a GoPro camera that was dropped by one of the survivors.

Here is an image of the camera as the guy (Fernando Puentes) exits the plane. See the wavy pattern on the strap and the buckle. Same type of wavy pattern and buckle are on the so-called SEAL team equipment.
