BOSTON (CBS) Celtics legend Bill Russell was rushed to a Washington state hospital Friday night after a scare he says resulted in him not drinking enough water.
TMZ first reported that Russell was taken by ambulance from his Seattle-area home. His condition was not known at the time.
But a short time later, Russell himself tweeted that he was on his way home from the hospital.

Another ex-athlete with a drinking problem. Sorta.
I have been married 27 years. I have a similar complaint...
Drink your water.
I caught Russell’s NPR call-in radio show a few times some years ago.
Even then the guy was dry as death, only less interesting.
My age tells me what Super Bowl it is.
Careful with water. You know what they say fish doin it.
About four in ten North American freshwater fish are endangered, according to a pan-North American study, the main cause being human pollution. The number of fish species and subspecies to become endangered has risen from 40 to 61, since 1989.

Another angry black man but that’s ok. He’s more than accomplished.
There was a time when the NBA was interesting. That time is far in the past. Bill Russell vs Wilt Chamberlain was fascinating to watch.
Our dad did that once. Lost his marbles. We thought he was a goner it happened so fast. Took him to the hospital, they said he wasn’t drinking enough water. He was ok again in a couple of days.
Old people, what are ya gonna do?
Another reason not to drink the water. Be sure to stay in the big cities. They can take care of the water purity. We here in the Rockies have to rely on nature.
Went through that with my father also.
first the Vertigo (which I’ve also experienced from lack of adequate hydration) an then the UTIs which made him batsh*t crazy. Definitely a learningexperience I never want to experience again with him
congrats.
Friday was 44 years for us.
“Old people, what are ya gonna do?”
I don’t know-—you tell me.
.
you are right-—never really cared for basketball, after the age of 14, when i played a lot of it as a kid. Loved the players of that period, though, especially Russell.
Dang, 84. He’s getting up there.
OMG. Trot up the court, pass the ball 3, 4, 5 times, shoot for a three pointer, rebound, reverse the process to the other end.
Fast break? What's that? Hustle? Only back to the bench for a time out. God this sport has turned SOOOO boring. It's like watching soccer, only with more scoring.
