Our dad did that once. Lost his marbles. We thought he was a goner it happened so fast. Took him to the hospital, they said he wasn’t drinking enough water. He was ok again in a couple of days.
Old people, what are ya gonna do?

. . . a scare he says resulted in him not drinking enough water I suspect it was more than dehydration. Electrolyte imbalance (simply; not enough Gatorade) is another factor. My late father was almost sent to the "psych" ward because his electrolytes were almost depleted by medication.
