Deadpool 2 smashed the record for top preview gross for an R-rated film, topping the previous mark of $13.5 million, set by It in September.
Book Club, meanwhile, took in $625,000 at 2,781 locations during Thursday previews.
20th Century Foxs superhero sequel will end Avengers: Infinity Wars three-week rule, with forecasts in the $130 million to $150 million range on 4,349 screens for its opening weekend the widest launch ever for a Fox title.
The original Deadpool stunned the industry two years ago with a $132.4 million debut weekend, which remains the record for an R-rated title. It went on to earn $363 million in North America and $783 worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.
Reynolds returns as the wisecracking mercenary in the 11th title in the X-Men franchise. David Leitch replaced Tim Miller as director, helming from a script by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Reynolds. The story sees Deadpool forming the X-Force comprised of Zazie Beetzs Domino, T.J. Millers Weasel, Terry Crews Bedlam, Bill Skarsgards Zeitgeist, and Rob Delaneys Peter to protect a young mutant from Josh Brolins Cable.
Disney-Marvels fourth weekend of Infinity War should take in around $30 million in its fourth frame. The blockbuster topped Jurassic World earlier this week to become the fourth-highest grossing film at the worldwide box office with $1.686 billion. Domestic earnings reached $562.9 million after 20 days of release, while the international tally totaled $1.123 billion in three weeks.

Deadpool 1 was good. People went for the wisecracks................
Mr. Pool is living the Dream.
Saw it last night. Side splitting hilarious!
We saw the first one a few days ago. Better than most superhero movies. Crazy sense of humor.
saw Deadpool 1 and 2 at a double feature last night here near San Antonio - five hours in the theater, but well worth the time!
I started to watch Deadpool 1 on TV. At first I thought it was funny but after awhile, the gay thing just turned me off and I switched the channel.
I guess humor is a strategy to get sodomy acceptable in our society. I hope it never does.
What the Deadpool directors/writers have done is actually transfer the smart-alec banter of the original comic books into the movie..................
Where is Clint Eastwood?
Wrong Deadpool?
Callahan?
5.56mm
I agree that they overdo that schtick though.
That’s one I never read (or heard of) when I was a kid. I used to read a lot of comics when I was younger.
Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy are the only comic movies I’ve really enjoyed.
I like those types of movies light-hearted.
Yup. His writer has described him as "ready and willing to do anything with a pulse."
I was still in elementary school LOL.
I’ll wait until it’s available to watch at home. I did see Infinity Wars at the theater, but probably won’t go out for another until Avengers 4. Black Panther is already available on Comcast for $5.99, but I’ll probably wait to see it until the price drops to $3.99. Captain Marvel might be worth going to the theater for but I’m not sure if that movie will be released before or after Avengers. If Disney is successful in buying the Fox franchises, then DP2 will be the last R-rated Marvel movie.

For some reason my girl liked the first one.
I thought it was crap.
Too much glib.
Not for kids, but freaking hilarious.
