Great find on the Chinese-made car. So what is that symbol?

If you mean that one character, it's for "Beijing," according to that Sinology Institute page.

By the way that character means ‘capital’.

So Beijing means north capital
Nanjing means south capital

In Japanese:
Tokyo means eastern capital using the same character for kyo
in Kyoto ‘kyo’ means capital as well...which it was before the Tokugawa shogun took charge and moved the seat of power to Tokyo.
