1. I’d be surprised if that is really his salary.

2. If you’re not making enough money, look for a new job. (That’s what I did whenever I didn’t think I was making enough. I didn’t organize a whinefest to try to make people feel sorry for me.)

Many teachers in AZ are complaining of the same thing. They are doing walk-outs and are scheduling more when school starts up again and I believe right around election time.

Something weird about that salary, I agree. Is he part time? He says he’s on an hourly wage and does not get paid vacation. I suspect he’s a substitute teacher or part-timer?

$1715 a month would be very low for a first year teacher. This guy is in his 10th year? Very hard to believe. If so, they need to abandon ship ASAP.

He might be a substitute teacher. Some folks do that for a living. The average rate for a substitute in my neck of the woods is around $80 a day. It could be much less in NC. Take out taxes, etc. and your net pay could be less than the minimum wage.

He is taking his 9 months of salary and averaging it over 12 months..acting like it is lower than it is or that he can’t work over the summer for some reason.

Teaching was seriously setup for women to handle while their kids were in school and so they could be off when their kids are.... it isn’t really setup to be a “career”.

They should really think about going year round and hiring some more competitive teachers....kids might actually learn something.

For sure....besides...he’s assuming all those kids he FAILED to teach reading and math will ‘get’ his message.

Teachers do make bupkus in NC, and true that’s his NET not his gross.. sure his net is more than 18k a year. However I don’t doubt he isn’t making much... depending on the school district he works in.
