Not bad for 10 months of work. Especially when you consider all the other time off that is rolled into their work schedules.

According to the chart, in NC for 10 years of teaching he should be making $3,300 to $3,700-ish spread out over 12 mos., depending on his degrees/certifications. So $1,700 sounds like a made-up number to me.

If that NC salary schedule applies to the complaining teacher, then it looks like the state and federal government are taking more than half of his earnings in taxes and other payroll deductions, and that does not seem plausible.
