HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman is suing United Airlines, claiming she was kicked off a flight out of Houston because someone complained that she had a "pungent odor."
The mother and her children were on a flight to San Francisco in 2016.
The suit says a man in business class told the flight crew that she smelled, and he was not comfortable flying next to her.
According to the lawsuit, the woman, who is Nigerian, believes she was booted because of her race.
She and her children were put on another flight five hours later. United has not commented on this lawsuit.

Common decency is on the verge of becoming extinct.
Too many people are spoiled, lazy, feel entitled, hyper-sensitivity, and have no manners.
*eeew* *yuck*
The worst person I smelled was at Disney World where I yelled “What the hell is that smell?!? It smells like crap!” To the reeking muslim animal and his burka clad slave who were so foul smelling you could not get close without wincing. I don’t even know why they let him into the park. He was absolutely filthy rank.
Nigerian? Probably had ebola in her underwear.
What is she doing over here? There is nothing she can contribute to our society.
I sat next to a late arriving passenger on a flight from Houston within the past year. Realized the foul odor I smelled was coming from him; but too late - the cabin door was being closed. 3 1/2 hours next to this guy was *extremely* unpleasant - and there was nothing I could do about it - the plane was full.
So yeah - I’d complain too. This guy wasn’t a minority of any kind as far as I could tell.
Mine was a plane full of Koreans that ate kimchi together for breakfast that day. I literally do not know how I survived, and I have traveled to 32 countries and flown a couple million miles. Unbearable.
Reminds me,
I am in Afghanistan currently due to get out soon for my time is up here next week and I deal with some of the people in the country and good lord some of them smell. I smell them when I had to fly with them when I came back from leave and when I eat chow I the DFAC which is really bothering at times, I had to keep my mouth shut about it of course.
Not sure if the phrases qualify as Ebonics or just going way back to older forms of English. An example the use of “I be” and “He be” instead of “I am” and “He is.” Although I am in Florida I think some of the phrasing such as “case dime” meaning a dime rather than other coins equaling 10 cents. originated in the Carolinas. I think in some places a “solid dime” is the phrase used.
I enjoy colloquilisms but it sure confused the heck out of me when I first heard somebody say they were fixing to go to the store. Now I fix to go all kinds of places. But I tell you I want to tear my hair out when I hear my well educated son say “I seen”.
I’ve been to Monroeville but just for a brief visit.
There is a lot. I do mean a lot of ignorance about African nations from some on FB. Meanwhile African Christians are being martyred in great numbers yet some dare to preach about them.
Try working in an enclosed office in Europe in frigid weather where the radio announcer TELLS THE PUBLIC NOT TO BATHE too keep their body oils on them to stay warm. And everyone wears acrylic sweaters, no one uses deodorant, or changes their sweater in a week? And some women wear leather jeans?
Gd awful. Only the constant cigarettes and cigars going helped (!) against the BO stench.
To me the word “chick” denotes a female with whom a man has a casual relationship. I am a wife. And very happy and proud to be one too.
Not all American blacks are reared in ghetto culture. If that is what you meant by being able to tell the difference? Unless she took out her passport to show him or she spoke to him and he recognized a foreign accent. I’ll ask again how would he have known?
One to keep and one to let me lay my hands on and never, ever, give back to you.
I agree but the assumption was based on her appearance.
Good articles.
Your comment is infuriating. Are you Christian? Does not matter to me all that much. But you should be aware of how many Nigerian Christians are dying for their faith. You should be ashamed at your ignorance but I bet you embrace it.
Scent can give a lot of clues about illnesses. You are wise to make use of that.
Aaah, this is nothing.
I hear “fixing to” all the time. On movies and everything. I’m attuned to that.
Now, tell me what you’d think if I asked you to... leave the dog in... when she’s outside. Or if I told you you should mow the lawn because...its needs cut.
Our northern neighbor has a little-recognized grammatical “quirk” that never makes it into the movies, so no one besides the perps ever really experiences it. Even many, many months-worth of western MD living didn’t attune me to this insanity!
Whatever.
People in every nation can say they’re oppressed. So many are here for the free ride.
Please tell us how much you’re doing to help.
