Sounded good to me but apparently the worst thing to do.
The acid may get neutralized but its an exothermic reaction and the person will get 2/3 degree burns. Also the strong base will injure the other areas not affected by acid and any areas where the acid is neutralized and additional base is used after that point.
Would have been nice to have an answer other than water.

Can you point me to that explanation? It’s baking soda (a weak base) and a small amount of strong acid.
