A man burst into a car garage in an upmarket London suburb "screaming" that he had been attacked with acid today.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to Kwik Fit in Whetstone, north London, this morning after reports a man had a "noxious substance" thrown at him.
A supervisor in the shop told thisislocalLondon the distressed victim repeatedly said he had been attacked with acid and that he constantly washed his face until emergency services arrived.
Police said they understand the man was approached by two suspects who threw a "noxious substance" at him before stealing his mobile phone.

I'm guessing that the word "acid" has been banned from official reports. Mustn't upset anyone, or let anyone connect the dots. Better to say "noxious substance", which will eventually be replaced with just "substance".
Ban acid!
The saddest thing is that the first 25 Google hits for “acid attack first aid” are UK based. It was such a unique and special country 20 years ago.

I’ll take islam for $2,000 Alex.
I hate to bring this up, but how long before we start seeing acid attacks in the US?
Sounded good to me but apparently the worst thing to do.
The acid may get neutralized but its an exothermic reaction and the person will get 2/3 degree burns. Also the strong base will injure the other areas not affected by acid and any areas where the acid is neutralized and additional base is used after that point.
Would have been nice to have an answer other than water.
Shhhhh.
The thugs don’t read much so there is a low barrier. In London the thugs learned from example by the Muslims.
I think there needs to be a special punishment for acid throwers. In honor of its origins as a tactic I think we should use Shariah law and let them experience their chosen method before we execute them.
Actually, I just found something that ends with saying my approach is best:

Banned guns.
Banning knives.
Obviously hasnt stopped criminals from finding a weapon.
*like*
Right after that, an acute rise in lead poisoning!
Diversity: the state of being diverse; variety
The pieces of the Perp’s head had much diversity when the victim unloaded his gun on him at close range.
It's interesting to me that liberals understand the importance of preventing exogenous invading species from ruining ecosystems (e.g. Kudzu in the South), and support measures to remove them, but think that every culture in the world is compatible with every other.
“Sodium bicarbonate is great for decontaminating spills after you rinse off. It does generate heat when neutralizing acid but the bigger issue is that it fizzes and spatters which might spread the acid around more. It’s better than nothing but not nearly as quick or effective as water”
This quote from your source does not suggest that your approach is best.
I started my research because I wanted to have the info just in case. Looking at multiple sources and at 2018 links water is the best.
Better yet, carry a bottle of water in your pocket or purse with 2 or 3 tablespoons of baking soda dissolved into it.
