I recall that instagram. Could just be the pig kill room...lots of younger folks making a fetish out of killing and butchering their own beef/pork/chicken. They want to eat meat, so they made up a lot of s#!+ about how to make it *legit* to do so. Makes them just as cool as the vegans and veggies, I guess.

Are you saying it's not legit to butcher your own meat??

Oh, not at all! It’s just I hear this from people in their 30s who have gone through all sorts of food cultism and are now justifying normal meat-eating only if they raise and butcher their own animals. Like they invented it. It is every bit as hide bound as when they were veggies or vegans. They get together and split a heritage pig, but they also are progs living in Seattle or Chicago and would never live in the country and just live as farming people always have. They are still better than we are and they still hate Trump. _Their_ meat-eating is somehow purer than ours.

I am a carnivore who loves game. I just don’t make a big deal about it and I don’t think my diet confers spirituality. Nor does anyone else’s diet.

I killed and butchered my own food today.

I shot a head of lettuce, two tomatoes, and an onion. My salad was delicious.
