Could be true. I don’t know for certain. Likely Russia would like to have the MEast conflicts over too, and still keep Assad and it’s access to Syrian port.
GEO political issue is oil/gas to Europe. Will it be from Russia, or pipeline through Syria/Turkey from some other source?
If USA gives up on Assad & pipeline, Russia helps with Iran?

That's been my theory, GE. I said that's the deal The Donald made with Pooty Poot to get him to stand down for the strikes. I still have faith in it and am glad somebody else see it. Let's hope it real and still in effect. It will allow the USA/Israel/Saudi/Regional coalition to take care of Iran while they are isolated.
