Too many were just rapes. . . or burglaries. He was just an evil guy. The first murder occurred when he was a Police Officer in Exeter, California, and was known as the Visalia Ransacker. He was caught during a burglary by the home owners in Visalia, and got into a scuffle with the male in the household and he backed off and then pulled a gun and just shot him. . . then ran. In fleeing, he shot at a Visalia police officer and hit his flashlight.
The next two to be killed were in Rancho Cordova, about 200 miles north, near where I was living at the time, when he was just known as the East Area Rapist. He was working as a police officer in Auburn, CA, at the time. A young Air Force policeman and his wife were walking in the evening and, the theory is, they apparently recognized him from forensic drawings and he matched the profile of outfits the East Area Rapist was known to wear, and he was in the area where the rapes had occurred, and the AF policeman may have decided to do something about his suspicions. The guy killed the husband and then chased down and killed the wife.
He made a practice of attending the community forums the police held about the East Area Rapist, who up to that time attacked single women. One man stood up and said he like to see him attack someone where a man was there to protect the woman because He'd protect his wife and kill the SOB. Two weeks later the East Area Rapist hit HIS HOUSE and tied him up and raped his wife!
Last night, my girlfriend and I were watching a documentary on the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer . . . and they showed a video clip of that community meeting, and although they did not know it, there was that bastard, sitting right there in the middle of the crowd, big as life, wearing one of those orangish-brown leisure suit type outfits that were popular back in the mid-70s. There was no doubt. It was D'Angelo, sitting there listening to this guy saying he would protect his wife! Several other film clips of other community meetings were shown and THERE HE SAT. . . in each of them! This is one of the other meetings than the one where he was challenged:
I was driving with my Mom yesterday and the top of the hour news came on. They were reporting on the story of the California rapist who was recently arrested. I heard them report that he was found due to his DNA being traced. I can’t remember how they said it, but it sounded like the “authorities” accessed something like 23 and Me to get his DNA. They also mentioned they had the wrong guy from Oregon at first. Have you heard anything about this? Did I hear that right?
